8th Grader Kyle Kempt Nets Stanford Offer to Play Football

This may be hard to believe but knowing this youngster we can believe it.  Soon to be Freshmen, Kyle Kempt, of Aloha, Oregon has received a verbal offer from Stanford Cardinal Head Coach Jim Harbaugh during a QB Camp in California.

Kempt is 6'4" and 180 pounds and tremendous young athlete.  While many will criticize this decision to offer an 8 th grader a full scholarship one has to understand this is a rare case of a youngster maturing early and really being that good.  The kid is a great athlete.  Harbaugh sees something and basically wanted to let him (Kempt) know if he keeps his grades up he is welcome at Stanford.

Let's keep this all in perspective.  He has not played a down of High School Football.  He will do so this year.  He should get playing time at the Varsity level and could contribute. NCAA rules now protect kids all the way down to 7th grade.  Stanford can change their mind anytime and all this is right now is a verbal indication of their interest level.

If Kempt continues to develop this will not be his only offer. He stands out now in a crowd of very good Quarterbacks so it is very easy to see why Harbaugh could get excited at the thought of what he might become given 4 years to work on his game.  Many say he will be 6'7" or 6'8" and could be a D1 Forward or even a pitcher or First baseman.

Kempt has a brother, Cody, that plays as the starting QB at Montana State after doing 2 years at Oregon.  His father Mychal played at Montana State as well.  The family including his Mom Marlene are all very athletic.  This is not a fluke folks.

Time will tell what will become of young Kyle Kempt.  This is a good start and lots fo expectations are mounting.  For now he is just taking it one day at a time.  These types of offers though leave one wondering if the NCAA won't once again consider revising their rules.  Many are calling for a "hands -off" policy in regards to these type of athletes and thinking that restricting all communications to the 10-12th grade classes is the thing to do.

PrepProfiles.com will be tracking Kempts progress and doing a one on one.  What can we say other than "Congatulations".  This certainly give him a reason to keep his grades up as Stanford is one of the finest schools in the country and that degree is worth a whole lot!
