Terrence Summers Rising

Summers Feels Hometown Love for TSU

Defensive Tackle Terrence Summers (Springfield HS, TN) grew up a fan of the Tennessee State University Tiger football team as a young child and when he received an official offer from them it made him remember all those good times watching ball games in the “Black Hole”.

“I was ecstatic when I got the news about being offered from TSU,” said Summers. “I grew up a fan of theirs and I went to several games back at their old stomping grounds. When I heard they would be playing two games there this year it made me want to snatch up tickets right there.”

He continued, “I would feel honored playing for TSU and no matter what happens with my recruitment they plan to always stay in the thick of things.”

Summers is an up and coming prospect from the Middle Tennessee area who burst onto the recruiting scene this summer with his multitude of performances on the camp scene. Summers won the strongest man at the Nike VTO camp as well as winning the DL MVP at the NUC 5 Star Showcase.

He showed at several stops that he could compete with the best of the best and be considered at the top of his position.

Several schools began to take notice of Summers talents. Tennessee St came through as the first school to show major interest but others felt strong about Summers as well and still continue to contact him today.

“I have received attention from the likes of Vanderbilt, Mississippi St, Kentucky, Tennessee, MTSU, Buffalo, Southern Illinois, UT Chattanooga as well as others,” said Summers. “I have camped already at Vandy, Kentucky, Tennessee and TSU and I plan to camp at MTSU and Mississippi St here in the next couple of weeks.”

“No one has talked too much about offers until they get a better feel for my grades. I have been working hard this summer trying to bring my GPA up and I think everything will work out fine in that area.”

This upcoming football season looks to be a big senior year for Terrence Summers. He is looking to put Springfield High School on the map and hopefully lead them to a state title. Summers is looking to become more of a leader this season as well as be someone that always goes noticed on the football field.

He wants to be disruptive, mean and dominating every time he steps out on the field and he is preparing everyday this summer for those exact moments.

“I am so excited about my Senior year that I am putting in so much more work at this time in my life then I ever have,” said Summers. “I am in the weight room twice daily and on the practice field at least once every day. My goal is to take my team all the way to the Tennessee State Championships and come away with a title. Me and my teammates work so hard and I believe if we keep the hard work up then nothing can stand in our way.”

Summers is focused on his Senior season right now as well as gaining more attention from college coaches. He is in no rush to make a decision and he might just be willing to wait all the way until Signing Day.

“I think my recruitment has basically just started, so I don’t want to rush into any quick decisions,” said Summers. “Right now I am thinking Signing Day is the day I make my final choice but you never know what could between now and then.”

“I do hold TSU in pretty high favor right now but I am still wide open and willing to listen to anyone. I have a long way to go and I think the fun has just started.”

2011 Stats: 50 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 8 sacks and 1 Defensive TD.
Offers: Tennessee St.
Others Interested: Buffalo, Chattanooga, Kentucky, Mississippi St, MTSU, Southern Illinois, Tennessee, UT Martin and
