Football season was not over yet for the Wildcats of Westview and Hayes Garrity. They were battling Sheldon right down to the last tick in the cold and fog. As the clock ran out on a blocked field goal attempt Hayes Garrity had much to reflect upon. He and the Cats had made this season one to remember. They made the second round of the playoffs and almost pulled off a road upset at the reigning State Champions home field; loosing 33-30. This was a team that was young and not supposed to do anything much but in Garrity and a few other standout Juniors and Sophomores is the future of the Cats program.
Garrity stepped off that stage and onto the hardwood never missing a step. He plays Basketball year around and now less than 90 days later he leads the potent Wildcat Hoop team. Hayes is playing Guard and at 6'3" and 190 pounds he is a force to reckon with. He is averaging over 13 points per game and is perhaps the most versatile player on the team. Hayes plays with tremendous passion and effort. He shoots very well from the perimeter and is a threat to go off the dribble to the well. There is no doubt Garrity is one of the most complete players in the State.
With the State tournament 2 weeks away Garrity and stand out Team mate Garrett Jackson plan to make a serious bid. Add to that 6'10.5" Sophomore Austin Keumper and the Cats pose a threat to all that they play. This is a team that could and should make a serious run into the Final Four. Garrity is receiving letters from BYU, Utah State, University of Portland, Lehigh, Penn, University of the Pacific in Stockton. He is also being recruited in Football as well.
This should be a great year for Hayes Garrity and the Wildcats and we wish you all the best going into the State Tournament.
