Big 12 Just Got Bigger

Nikki Moody a Texas Prepstars 5 Star ***** recruit has worked her way into the McDonald’s All-American top recruit watch list, and she's impressive enough to attract Division I scholarship offers from the Big 12. So what else fuels an athlete like Nikki Moody? Winning!

Moody decided to verbally commit to Iowa State University after a weekend trip to the campus where she met with coaches, future teammates and attended an elite camp just after visit to Kansas Jayhawks and Missouri Tigers just weeks prior. It doesn’t hurt that Nikki is from Iowa and will have great family support as she launches her college career in the fall 2011.  Adrian Washington said, “The commitment culminates a lot of hard work by a teen that for years had to create her own opportunities on the court do to playing on a team that was not a top ranked team, but Moody found ways to win.”

"Moody has just got this incredible work ethic," Washington said about his star player, "she practices hours and hours." Moody is raised by her mother Chrystal and father Lincoln, and will be the first of her siblings to play basketball at the collegiate level,

Moody plays for Liberty 360 an AAU team owned by her mother Chrystal Moody, a women’s basketball coach and mentor to young girls trying to develop their skills to make it to the next level. With the help of trainer and the skills development of Coach Adrian Washington, Moody is now one of the most well rounded athletes in the country, and he has pushed Moody to being one of the Top 100 ranked athletes in every poll nationally. Moody’s junior seasons she led the Euless Trinity Trojans varsity in scoring, and ended the season with an impressive 31-5 record averaging just over 14 pts per game with 4 assist. Her senior season she returned with a District leading 18 point per game with a dominating 7 rebounds and 4 assist.

Nikki Moody caught the eye of Iowa coaches at the elite camp this past summer. She was also considering TCU, Duke University and UNC-Wilmington.

Iowa State Head Coach Bill Fennelly will have much to look forward to this upcoming season with an athlete like Moody leading the Cyclones.
