Oregon’s Top Collegiate Football Prospect for the Class of 2008-2009 is Offensive Line phenom Charles Siddoway. The 6’6”, 320 pound youngster from Eugene, Oregon has had a wild ride this year. His Spring and Summer schedule featured a great showing at the National SPARQ Events, several Summer Camps followed by several D1 Offers. The highlight was likely his gritty showing at the #1 Ranked Alabama Crimson Tide’s Summer camp which earned him an offer by midweek to play for Coach Nick Saban and Crew. But is has not all been easy.
Some of you will recall that controversy that surrounded his situation as Summer came to a close. Charles had decided to enroll at South Eugene leaving private power house Marist for financial reasons. Their staff quickly appealed his status and eligibility to the OSAA citing “undue influence”. As a result Oregon’s primary Blue Chip athlete was warned that he may in fact not be allowed to play. This precipitated a very mature and wise decision to officially enroll at Sheldon High School where Charles helped the Irish reach the third round of the Oregon 6A playoffs; loosing eventually to Championship contender Lake Oswego.
“It was a good season. I have no regrets. The guys at Sheldon welcomed me and are really great. Coach Johnson and the staff there are top notch guys too. It was fun and I feel I contributed, played hard, and had a good season” said Charles.
Siddoway has a view into the 6A Championship Game this week as Sheldon played Southridge in preseason and Lake Owego in the playoffs. “This should be a great game. Southridge is very athletic and tough. They can bring pressure,” he offered. “Lake Oswego does it all well so I see this being a great game to watch!”
Siddoway has ridden the proverbial wave this year and his 2008 is about to crest as he is pleased to report he had been invited to play in the first ever
Hawaii/Polynesia-Mainland Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii on December 12
th of this year. This is a first ever Game of its kind and is promoted by Sportslink.com; the same group that manages the
ARMY ALL AMERICAN BOWL. Charles was among the Top 38 Athletes in the Mainland US who have been invited to form a team and take on the Top 40 Players from Hawaii and Polynesia. That team will feature nine 4 and 5 star rated athletes from around the Mainland US, Over 30 Stars from around the Hawaiian Islands, and the 3 finest players that the island of America Samoa has to offer. This promises to be a hard hitting Rivalry and should have the feeling of a true battle royal as these boys will be playing for bragging rights and Pride. See more here:

“To play with the best from around America and Hawaii and Samoa is going to be awesome. I am looking forward to competing with these guys who are all future D1 players with some real size and speed. I will be ready,” Siddoway said smiling.
This is a big time match up and by all accounts a very hard-hitting game.
Siddoway did share with me that he is on track to decide his future by the end of the year and that he has now narrowed his list to Alabama, Oregon, and UCLA. He is excited to see Alabama have a shot at the National title and believes they can win it all.
As another football season comes to a close this week I can see this Big Oregonian riding the wave he is on all the way to Hawaii and on into the future. His wave won’t crest for some time yet in my view! Good luck to you and your family and team Charles. You will take the greatness of Oregon Prep football with you wherever you go!
